Hello!

Here's who I am & what I do

My research mission is centered around establishing an inclusive and equitable media communication system that prioritizes the needs and voices of individuals. Recognizing that this objective extends beyond a single paper or field of study, my research goal is to bridge the gap

between journalism and media practice through rigorous inquiry. Given the crucial role of communication in shaping society, it is imperative that journalism encompasses diverse perspectives and advocates for better, brighter, and equitable future for all citizens.

My research agenda centers on inclusive, equitable and sustainable journalism, critically reflecting on DEIB efforts in media, organizational and institutional influence, trust and global media literacy and care-centered

practice. I focus on understanding how journalism and mass media institutions:

  1. Respond to calls for accountability and reckoning.

  2. Promote conformity through their practices, despite inherent problems.

  3. Position themselves by creating and reinforcing boundaries.

  4. Include or exclude groups based on their identities.

  5. Engage in community care.

Additionally, I explore how different actors interact with journalism as an institution and examine emerging media organizations that aim to challenge the hegemony of traditional journalism practices through innovative and

inclusive approaches.

I identify as a mixed methods scholar with an emphasis on qualitative and critical methods.

As a primarily qualitative scholar, I employ sociological and anthropological methods in my inquiries, with a core emphasis on practice and education.
