My doctoral research focus lies at the nexus of media and society, exploring the intricate tapestry of their interactions. I am particularly driven by the symbiotic relationship between journalism studies and organizational communication theories. Beyond this, my research compass also directs me toward Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) issues within the media landscape. In essence, my research pursuits converge towards illuminating the profound role of media in shaping societal narratives, while striving to enhance equity, trust, and literacy in our ever-evolving media landscape.

Masters in Journalism
Reynolds School of Journalism
University of Nevada, Reno
The master's thesis conducted applied research evaluating engaged journalism practices within two Reno, Nevada-based local newsrooms. It applied the principles delineated by Jake Batsell in "Engaged Journalism: Connecting with Digitally Empowered News Audiences," defining engagement as proactive audience interaction aligned with journalistic and financial objectives. Employing qualitative techniques including content analysis and semi-structured interviews, the study drew insights from Batsell's framework to illuminate the newsrooms' approach to engagement.
